What is Rodin Gen-2.5?

Rodin is the 3D generation model line from Hyper3D, consistently regarded as one of the highest-quality AI generators available. Gen-2.5 produces detailed, PBR-textured meshes and — unusually for AI generation — gives you explicit control over the output topology: quad meshes at 4K, 8K, 18K or 50K faces, or triangle meshes from 2K up to 500K. Why topology control matters

Most AI generators output dense triangle soups that need retopology before they can be rigged, animated or cleanly edited. Rodin's quad output changes that: a 4K–18K quad mesh subdivides predictably, deforms well, and imports into DCC tools as workable geometry rather than a scan-like blob. If the asset's destination is a game engine or an animation pipeline, this is the difference between a starting point and a finished part.

Choosing tier and mesh budget

A practical default: Medium tier with an 18K quad mesh covers most assets. Go Draft/Low with a small mesh budget while exploring prompts (generations complete faster), and reserve High or Ultra with 50K quad or high triangle counts for hero assets — those runs take longer, closer to the three-minute end. Material mode is worth a look too: PBR for engines, Shaded for stylized looks, None when you only want the geometry.
